The elder company was a Japanese manufactuerer of bicycles that was first established in 1899. If the company name sounds familiar, it is because the company took its name and logo from the famous Mountain of Japan (Japan's highest mountain located on Honshu Island). Mount Fuji has traditionally been known as a symbol of strength and endurance in Japan; a quality that is evident in this company's bikes to this day. After ownership changes, the company was purchased by Advanced Sports International of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. They specialize in Mountain Bikes and Mountain Bike parts.
