Kona brand Bicycles are a product of the independant Bike company. The brand was established in 1988 by  Dan Gerhard and Jacob Heilbron and they still have the same founding owners. Currently, the company produces more than 60 models of Bicycles, each designed with a specific rider and style in mind. This company chooses employees that are active and impassioned cyclists. Kona describes itself as "a dedicated group of cyclists making bicycles for people who love bikes-no matter if that love is new or long established." They specialize in Road Bikes, Mountain Bikes, and their parts.
