It was founded by German-born mechanical engineer Ignaz Schwinn (1860–1945) in Chicago way back in 1895.  today it is a sub-brand of Pacific Cycle, owned by the multi-nationalconglomerate, Dorel Industries. The company is a maker of Road Bikes, Hybrid Bikes, Electric Bikes, Cruisers, Mountain Bikes, Bike Path, Urban Bikes and Kids Bicycles.
