TSG

TSG was founded in 1988 in Germany, and has been producing protection gear for skaters and bikers ever since. In 1996, they signed with a US distributor, and have since become a major player in the international market for skating, biking, and winter sport protection gear. Now they are a highly influential company in their industry and have since relocated their headquarters to Switzerland, but they continue to uphold their very down-to-earth motto: “designed by riders.” That is the basic viewpoint from which they design all of their products, by asking themselves what a skater or other sportsman would actually want to use and wear on a daily basis.

TSG's influence can be seen all over the world of sports protection gear, but their importance in skateboard helmet design really cannot be overstated. While skaters originally had to piece together protection from the leftover gear of other sports, TSG revolutionized the field by designing a helmet specifically for skaters—and even got them to wear it.
